Ed Humpherson to Phillip Gillespie: Request for assessment of Scottish social services workforce data

Dear Phillip,

Thank you for your letter of 28 May requesting an assessment of the Scottish Social Services Council’s (SSSC) workforce data report.

I note the recent changes that you have made to these statistics regarding quality assurance procedures and documentation, as well as transparency around methods, data sources and limitations. I also note your ambitions for data and intelligence in SSSC’s Strategic Plan for 2026-2029.

Given the importance of these statistics for improving understanding of the social services sector in Scotland and its workforce, I welcome your aspiration to publicly demonstrate compliance with the Code of Practice for Statistics.
