Ed Humpherson to Sioned Cardew-Richardson: Accreditation for Medr’s statistical publications – Request for temporary suspension and request for assessment

Dear Sioned,  

Thank you for your letter requesting removal of the accredited official statistics status of four statistics transferred from Welsh Government to Medr.  

Given that you are a new producer of official statistics and your assessment that your statistical processes have been bedding in, I agree to your request to temporarily suspend the accredited official statistics status of the following statistics: 

• Students in higher education 

• Welsh language in higher education 

• Further education, work-based learning and community learning 

• Learner outcome measures for apprenticeships 

You also requested that we carry out an assessment of these statistics and two additional statistics: 

• Consistent performance measures for post-16 learning: Achievement 

• Apprenticeships learning programmes started 

I welcome your aspiration to publicly demonstrate your compliance with the Code of Practice for Statistics. My team will continue to engage with your team about the assessment, and I look forward to sharing our findings with you in due course.
