We have recently completed a compliance review of Welsh Government’s Labour Market Overview. This statistical bulletin is currently published as Official Statistics.

Our review looked at how effectively the Labour Market Overview communicates quality and uncertainty, and how clearly it supports appropriate use of different data sources. Overall, the bulletin communicates these aspects clearly. However, refreshing the background material and providing stronger linkage between the bulletin and underlying data are needed. We have made two recommendations to support improvements in these areas.

We have shared our findings with your analysts, who have already begun to make changes based on the emerging findings from this review. We expect Welsh Government to provide a public update on progress against all recommendations by September 2026.
