Have your say: OSR review of ONS stakeholder engagement

The Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) is undertaking a thematic review of how effectively the Office for National Statistics (ONS) engages with users and stakeholders of its statistics.

To support the review, we have launched a short online survey. Responses will help us identify strengths, areas for improvement and wider themes that may inform future regulatory work.

The survey is anonymous, and we welcome responses from a broad range of users and stakeholders with experience of ONS statistics in the areas covered by the review.

The review will assess ONS’s engagement practices against the Code of Practice for Statistics, focusing on whether engagement helps ensure that statistics remain relevant, responsive and serve the public good.

As part of the review, we are seeking views from those who use, contribute to, or have an interest in ONS statistics. This includes stakeholders from government, academia, business, civil society organisations, the media and other sectors.

We are particularly interested in understanding:

• how effectively ONS gathers, understands and responds to user needs;
• how transparent it is about decisions, priorities and constraints;
• whether engagement opportunities are accessible, inclusive and meaningful;
• whether users can see evidence that feedback has influenced decisions, methods or outputs; and
• examples of good practice, as well as opportunities for improvement.
