Voluntary Application of the Code

The Office for Statistics Regulation runs a voluntary application (VA) scheme for any organisation that wants to promote public confidence in their statistics by applying the Code of Practice for Statistics. We encourage any producer of data, statistics and analysis that are not official statistics to be part of the scheme.

By committing to apply the core principles of the Code – Trustworthiness, Quality and Value (TQV) – you can:

• compare your processes, methods and outputs against the recognised standards in the Code that we expect of official statistics
• demonstrate to the public your commitment to statistics that are trustworthy, of good quality and have public value
• strengthen your statistical practices by ‘thinking TQV’
