Dear Ed
Proposed cessation of accredited official statistic: Statistics on Public Health
As we work with colleagues across health and care statistics producing organisations, we continue to seek users’ views on where we can join up and streamline our outputs.
Over recent years there have been several consultations relating to the Statistics on Public Health publication. It currently comprises data files of indicators and links to other data sources. Therefore, we have recently consulted on migrating all the remaining indicators in our Statistics on Public Health accredited official statistics publication to be presented alongside similar content produced by our partner organisations. This would leave our Statistics in Public Health page solely as a set of signposts for this content published elsewhere for a limited period, anticipated to be until the end of 2026, enabling users to navigate to the new locations.
I am pleased to report that the proposals received unanimous support from the users who responded to our consultation so we will work with our partner organisations to implement them. As all the material will be published elsewhere, the Statistics on Public Health will change from being a publication of content to a temporary signposting page and would mean that it would no longer be an accredited official statistic. For this reason, I would be very grateful if you could consider approving its discontinuation.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Roebuck
