Thank you for your letter of 19 May 2022 requesting an alternative release time for the publication of NRS’s weekly deaths involving COVID-19 for week commencing 30 May 2022.

Given the public holidays which fall at that time, your proposal to move the publication time to Wednesday 1 June at 1200 would seem to be the most pragmatic option; allowing sufficient time to ensure the quality of the statistics and avoiding any delay in users’ access to these data. I am happy to confirm the exemption from the Code of Practice for Statistics’ standard publication time of 9.30am for this particular release – as subsequent week’s releases are planned for the usual Thursday at 0930 timetable.
