Alternative release time request for Impact of increased cost of living on adults across Great Britain: June to September 2022 and Analysis of lowest cost grocery items: UK

Thank you for your letter of the 4 October 2022, requesting an alternative release time of 7am for the publication of ONS’s Impact of increased cost of living on adults across Great Britain: June to September 2022 and Analysis of lowest cost grocery items: UK release on 25 October 2022.

We appreciate that the October release of these analyses are scheduled for the same day as your planned Understating cost of living through statistics public event.

We recognise that publishing and promoting these analyses on the same day of the public event will potentially result in greater public value than publishing the analyses the day before at 09.30am. We, therefore, support your request to publish at 7am on 25 October.

We expect future releases of these analyses will adhere to the standard release time of 09.30am. Should ONS consider there is a need for another ART in the future, this will be considered as a separate further request. 

Please ensure that the time of the October release is made public and that the reasons for the alternative release time are clearly outlined.
