Request for assessment of A&E outputs

We have been talking to your team in the Office for Statistics Regulation regarding the badging of a suite of NHS England’s A&E outputs:

• Official monthly stats Statistics – A&E Attendances and Emergency Admissions (england.nhs.uk)
• 12 hour waits Statistics – A&E Attendances and Emergency Admissions 2022-23 (england.nhs.uk)
• Monthly A&E Quality Indicators publication – Provisional Accident and Emergency Quality Indicators for England – NHS Digital
• Annual A&E publication – Hospital Accident & Emergency Activity – NHS Digital

In accordance with Section 12(1) of the Statistics and Registration Act 2007, we would welcome a full assessment of these statistics given the continued high profile of these releases. We are currently working on some data developments for some of these outputs, and this will also be a good opportunity for NHS England to receive feedback from OSR.

We would be grateful if you could consider these requests. We are copying this letter to our statistical governance team who are ready to pick up the next steps with the OSR team.
