Dear Ed,
RE: Transparency of statistics relating to ‘Expressions of interest’ in the Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme
Thank you for your letter dated 8th April in which you raised an issue with regards to DLUHC’s handling and release of management information covering UK households’ ’Expressions of Interest’ in providing accommodation under the Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme.
We fully recognise the public interest in this information, not least from those households who have made these offers. We also recognise the importance of publishing any quantitative information which forms the backdrop to public policy and public statements relating to the situation in the Ukraine.
Analysts in DLUHC and the Home Office, in concert with their counterparts in the Devolved Administrations, are aiming to publish further information as soon as possible, and with appropriate granularity, so that they can be viewed alongside the statistics that have already been published here on the number of Visas granted to Ukrainian refugees, and the number of subsequent arrivals in the UK.
I am copying this letter to Sandra Tudor, Head of Profession for Statistics, DLUHC, Simon Palmer, Director of Home Office Analysis and Insight, Home Office, Alistair McAlpine, Chief Statistician, Scottish Government, Stephanie Howarth, Chief Statistician, Welsh Government, and Siobhan Carey, Chief Executive and Registrar General, Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Aldridge
Director for Analysis and Data
