Dear Ed,

Thank you for your letter dated 1 August 2025.

You asked us to keep you updated on progress we are making against the action plan for the GSGB. Therefore I would like to update you on two areas of progress:

  1. We held our first GSGB statistics user group on 29 July 2025. Over 50 users attended the group and provided feedback on how they would the statistics user group to run and data they would like to see included in our upcoming publications.
  2. The research undertaken by Professor Sturgis and NatCen was published, providing causal evidence on why estimates from different gambling surveys vary. The findings greatly increase our confidence in the estimates of PGSI generated by the GSGB. As a result of user group feedback, we’ll be hosting a 2nd user group meeting on the 10 September where Professor Sturgis will explain the findings in more detail to our user group, and answer their questions.

We will continue to keep you updated on further progress we make.

Yours sincerely,
Tim Miller
Executive Director of Policy, Research & Statistics
