The Royal Statistical Society and the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) are partnering once again to accept entries for the 2026 Award for Statistical Excellence in Trustworthiness, Quality and Value, supported by Civil Service World.
Now in its seventh year, with continuously impressive winners, this award recognises excellence in the voluntary application of the “pillars” of Trustworthiness, Quality & Value (TQV) that stand at the heart of OSR’s recently refreshed Code of Practice for Statistics (Edition 3.0).
The award has seen winners from a variety of different organisations, with Mental Health Innovations (MHI) winning last year for launching and operating Shout, the UK’s first and only free 24/7 text-based mental health support service that is also available to children and young people. By strictly adhering to the principles of TQV, they use anonymised data collected from this service to provide insight into mental health trends across the UK as well as in specific demographic and regional segments.
Commenting on the award launch, RSS CEO Dr Sarah Cumbers, said:
“Trustworthiness, Quality, and Value are all about putting users first in the production of statistics, and it has been fantastic to highlight, over the years, the breadth of organisations committing to these principles through this award.”
Ed Humpherson, Director General for Regulation at OSR, said:
“This award marks an important annual milestone in our efforts to broaden the use and application of the Code of Practice beyond official statistics, continually championing the value and impact of TQV across a growing community committed to serving their users.”
