Dear Grant,

Temporary pause of Personal well-being in the UK release

Thank you for your letter outlining your plans to pause this years’ accredited official statistics publication of Personal well-being in the UK due to concerns with the quality of the Annual Population Survey (APS) which has meant that you are unable to provide the required more granular estimates of personal well-being.

Whilst recognising the challenges for users during this period, statistics should be robust and therefore I support your decision. Your engagement with key stakeholders to date and broader communication plans will ensure that user expectations are managed as you work towards a solution to fill this data gap.

Our Population and Society domain team will continue to engage with your team on this matter.

Yours sincerely

Ed Humpherson
Director General for OSR
