Emergency Department Statistics for Wales 

Thank you for outlining the steps that you have taken to assure the quality of emergency department statistics in the light of queries raised in the media this week.  

I welcome these steps and particularly your confirmation that the data that Local Health Boards submit to Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is in line with the guidance on reporting clinical exceptions, that your statisticians do not exclude clinical exceptions from the data received from DHCW, and that patients subject to clinical exceptions are therefore included in the emergency department attendances in this report and previous reports.
