Monitoring Review 8/12

As part of the Programme for Government Table 1: Welfare to Work Schemes , the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) introduced a range of new ‘welfare to work’ schemes in 2011, with the aim of helping unemployed people to gain sustained employment. Among these schemes, the Work Programme, aimed at the long term unemployed, is the one with the greatest number of places. Other schemes aimed at people unemployed for less than one year are grouped together under the label ‘Pre-work Programme’. Table 1 identifies the schemes and statistics to which this Review relates.
