Transport, Environment and Climate Change

Last updated on Friday 20 June 2025

Our Transport, Environment and Climate Change (TECC) domain covers statistics on transport and transport infrastructure; food and farming; the natural environment; energy sources, production, consumption and prices; fuel poverty; and climate change.

Statistics in these areas are critical to understanding some of the most significant challenges facing the UK, including climate change, environmental protection, energy security and transport experience and safety. They also play a key role in monitoring progress against government missions and devolved priorities.

During 2026/27, we will continue to seek improvements to the trustworthiness, quality and value of TECC statistics through a combination of formal regulatory activity and ongoing engagement with producers across the UK. This includes reviewing high‑profile and long‑standing statistics, and supporting producers as methods and data sources evolve. We will place particular emphasis on areas where statistics are complex, fragmented or prominent in public debate, including environmental indicators, water quality and transport data. Our work will include proportionate compliance activity, systemic reviews and support for appropriate UK‑wide comparison.

Our future priorities are informed by the needs of users. If you would like to share your views on data and statistics relating to transport, the environment or climate change, we would be very happy to hear from you.
